PA SHPO’s 2016 Community Initiative Award Winners

The Community Initiative Award from the Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office (PA SHPO) recognizes organizations, municipalities, agencies, individuals, and others whose work embodies the theme of Pennsylvania’s recently released statewide historic preservation plan, #PreservationHappensHere.

The 2016 awardees are Bradford Revitalization Team (McKean County), East Liberty Development, Inc. (Allegheny County), and Hidden City Philadelphia (Philadelphia).

PA SHPO’s 2018 Community Initiative Award Winners

Preservationists are flocking to Chambersburg in June

Each year we meet to share and learn at the Statewide Conference on Heritage and to be inspired at the Pennsylvania Historic Preservation Awards. This year, those two inspiring events combine offering preservation festivities from June 19-21 in Chambersburg. For the first time, we’ll host an all-day Pennsylvania Barn & Farm Symposium.

November’s SHPO Shout Out!

Tis the season to be thankful – after all, Thanksgiving was just last week and more holidays are just around the corner – and I for one have been rattling off a list of all the great places in Pennsylvania that I am thankful for and appreciate.  The SHPO Shout Out, which, btw, turns 1 year old this month, was intended to send out a big thank you in celebration of all the great people and projects that preserve Pennsylvania’s history everyday.  Thank you for all you do to help preserve, protect, and promote Pennsylvania’s historic places and spaces!  Read on to see who gets a Shout Out Thank You this month.  Make sure to let me know who else we should be thanking and recognizing!
