The Divine Lorraine was Philadelphia’s first integrated hotel, a place where you could get a clean room for $5 and a hot meal for 25 cents. Thanks to owner EB Realty Management Corporation , this landmark has been restored & now houses 100 modern apartments.

The Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village preserved its Miller Schoolhouse by installing a standing-seam metal roof, returning the building to its late-19th century appearance. While constructing a pedestrian bridge across the Lehigh River, near the site of Jim Thorpe’s historic Mansion House Pedestrian Bridge, workers uncovered the foundation of the first Wing Dam on the Lehigh Canal. The dam was 24-feet tall & constructed mostly of hemlock.

May 24:

The National Transit Building, once the site of the largest subsidiary of John D. Rockefeller’s Standard Oil Co., was nearly vacant by the 1990s. May 25:

Much of Chester’s history is underground, where new foundations were built around walls of colonial basements, creating a labyrinthine of passageways. For years, the walkways served as storage areas. Now, through the CHESTER MADE Exploration Zone, residents are retrieving artifacts to interpret.

#Congratulations to Longwood Gardens & its restoration project team, recipients of a 2018 Preservation Achievement Award. Longwood’s Main Fountain Garden combines classic landscape design with art, innovation & technology. The 80-year-old fountain underwent a multi-year restoration that preserved its #architectural character.
