As we welcome the new year, we also continue to welcome improvements to PA-SHARE as part of the 2.0 Project.
2024 saw several significant improvements to PA-SHARE, including the photo gallery, streamlining of the Quick Search, updates to External User queues, and enhanced functionality to allow for batch uploading and downloading of photos and attachments, to name a few. 2025 will include additional upgrades to PA-SHARE as we move towards finalizing 2.0.
Over the next few months you will see improvements to the login process, updates to archaeological artifact data entry to be more consistent with the Pennsylvania State Museum, and additional User Group privileges similar to the Planner access that was available in our previous system, CRGIS. We will also continue improving database performance and fixing bugs to keep PA-SHARE running as smoothly as possible.
Since our last PA-SHARE blog post in September 2024, a few other specific changes have been implemented as part of the 2.0 work.
Improvements to Subscription and Organization Options
For all users, the subscription page will look different. We’ve added new buttons to make extending or changing your subscription simpler, and it will be easier to see and understand your subscription transactions.
Business accounts can now purchase additional seats beyond the 5 users included in the base price, each at the cost of $55/month or $175/year. This eliminates the need to purchase and link two or more organizations if a Business subscriber wants to have more than 5 users. Please check our website for other details about our Subscription benefits.
The Organization Owner will see additional grids in their Profile for all Subscription transactions and any associated refunds.
Resource Data Enhancements
Associated Resources
You can now associate existing resources as part of the initial resource data entry process. This aligns with how data entry is structured in the PA-SHARE companion app, Surveyor, and should simplify tracking and documenting relationships between resources.
Pro and Business users can view these associations on each Resource page under the Associations tab.
Dynamic Spatial Data
PA-SHARE hosts a number of additional data layers beyond the PA-SHARE data. Resource records now include a section on both the data entry and resource record pages to display some of this data based on the GIS feature associated with the resource record:
This data will dynamically update if the GIS feature is edited and/or when the layer data changes. Additional PA-SHARE upgrades will also implement this same functionality on Project and Report records.
As always, if you have any questions or problems with PA-SHARE, please contact the Help Desk at pashare@pa.gov, and stay tuned for more updates later in the year!
