Description of Work
PA-SHARE Triage Specialist is a professional position with the PHMC’s State Historic Preservation Office (PA SHPO). The PA SHPO Triage position serves as the first point of contact to assist PA SHPO customers with general program assistance, to provide non-information technology (non-IT) level customer service assistance with project submissions to PA-SHARE, and to manage submissions for the initial review and verification of program and data accuracy in the PA-SHARE system. Use your specialized combination of education and experience to meet the criteria under the Secretary of Interior’s Professional Qualification Standard in Archeology or Architectural History and assist with advancing PA SHPO priorities to bring real benefits to developers, consultants, agencies, municipalities, and individuals who value and protect Pennsylvania history.

Qualifications
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two or more years of experience working on an architectural survey, an architectural restoration and preservation project or program, and a bachelor’s degree in architectural history, American history, art history or course work in Pennsylvania history; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must meet or exceed the minimum education and experience required to meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications Standards.
- You must possess experience working with a team of individuals and independently.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Experience using technology and software applications to manage historic resource data, workflows, and workload, including Esri HUB and ArcGIS.
- Experience with geographic information systems (GIS)
- Experience in developing and implementing public outreach programs, conducting preservation education, and public speaking.
- Excellent computer and word processing skills using MS Office products and data management systems such as the SHPO’s PA-SHARE.
- Successful completion of coursework in Pennsylvania history.
- Experience working on an architectural survey, an architectural restoration, or a preservation project or program
- Provide your highest level of education and degree field, especially:
- Architectural History
- American History
- Archaeology
- A closely related field
- Experience and/or expertise in the following areas/abilities
- Data management
- Records management
- Public communication
- Project planning or review
- Archaeological or historic resource recordation and/or evaluation
- Applying National Register criteria/determining the historical significance of properties
- Research, writing, teaching and/or interpretation related to historic preservation
- Public education and developing training programs
- Applying the Secretary of the Interior’s standards
- Technical proficiency in the following software programs:
- Word
- Excel
- PowerPoint
- Access
- ArcGIS
- Experience in customer service, public outreach, and education.

Work Schedule and Additional Information
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: SHPO staff has the opportunity to work from home, with the exception of site visits/field work and one (1) day a month in the office in Harrisburg. Specific days will be determined according to bureau needs. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
