The Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office (PA SHPO) is seeking a manager to lead the Environmental Review Division and help advance PA SHPO priorities. This position is ideal for a professional with proven relationship-building skills and has broad knowledge of federal historic preservation programs.

DESCRIPTION of WORK
The PA SHPO uses its resources to educate, encourage and enable Pennsylvanians to value and preserve Pennsylvania’s history and culture. Our role is to identify, promote, and protect the architectural and archaeological resources of the commonwealth.
The Division of Environmental Review is responsible for the consideration and protection of historic properties which may be affected by State and Federal projects. This management position will manage and direct the work of the division.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
A Master’s Degree in Architectural History, Archaeology, or a closely related field; and one year in the Historic Preservation Supervisor classification; or
A Master’s Degree in Architectural History, American History, Archaeology, or a closely related field, plus three years of experience working on an architectural survey, an architectural restoration and preservation project, historic preservation program, or a preservation assistance project; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Meet or exceed the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for History, Architectural History or Archaeology.
- Demonstrate excellent ability managing a team of individuals and overseeing group work.
- Demonstrable experience interpreting and applying National Park Service guidance and the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
- Demonstrable experience developing agreement documents and mitigation stipulations.
- Experience coordinating and conducting site visits and meetings to advise and assist partners.

Telework
Telework eligible (part-time): You will have the opportunity to work from home (telework) up to 3 days a week. Specific days will be determined by bureau directors according to bureau needs. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
