#FavoritePAPlaces: Preservation Pennsylvania’s Mindy Crawford

Pennsylvania’s communities are filled with special and meaningful historic places and spaces that add value to our lives and offer comfort and stability during these challenging times. Now more than ever, it is important to stay connected to our communities.

Today’s Spotlight: Mindy Crawford

The next entry in PA SHPO’s #FavoritePAPlaces campaign is Mindy Crawford, Executive Director of Preservation Pennsylvania, talking about why the Guthrie Memorial Library in Hanover, York County is one of her favorite Pennsylvania places.

Guthrie Memorial Library

Also known as the Hanover Public Library and the Young Memorial Library (Key #073589), the Guthrie Memorial Library was built in 1911 in memory of local resident Edward Etzler Young. The library was expanded in 1966 with the construction of the Wolcott Wing. In 1974, the library was one of the founding institutions of the York County Library System. The building was expanded again in 2006.

The library is a contributing building in the Hanover Historic District (Key #079015), which was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
