Bushy Run Battlefield is a state historic park located along Route 993 northwest of Greensburg and about one mile east of Harrison City in Westmoreland County. People recently celebrated the 150th anniversary of the Civil War Battle of Gettysburg. Less well known, but equally important to American history was the Battle at Bushy Run.
This August marks the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Bushy Run. The first weekend in August is always set aside at the park for reenactment of the battle. This year there will be additional events to commemorate the battle. The schedule of events is as follows:
Friday, August 2, 2013
Admission for these evening events is $10/car. Gates open at 6:30 PM.
7:15 PM – Lecture & “sneak peak” at the New Monument
8:00 PM – Bagpipe Concert featuring the Seton Hall University Pipe Band
9:00 PM – Luminary Event
Saturday, August 3
Admission fee for the day: $5/person, children under 3 for free.
8:30 AM – Satellite parking sites open; there is no onsite parking this year. Buses will be provided to take people to and from the satellite parking sites.
9:00 AM – Event opens with War Gaming demonstration in the Visitor Center
10:00 AM – Byerly Program at the Cabin
11:00 AM – Unveiling of the Monument in the amphitheater
1:00 PM – Fur Trade Program behind the Visitor Center
2:00 PM – Battle Reenactment
4:00 PM – Treaty of Muskingum Program in the Oak Grove
5:00 PM – Event Closes (last bus leaving at 5:15)

1:00 PM – Byerly Program at the Cabin
2:00 PM – Battle Reenactment
4:00 PM – Drawing of the “Tools of the Trade” Commemorative Raffle at Edge Hill
5:00 PM – Event Closes (last bus leaves at 5:15)
