Pennsylvania’s communities are filled with special and meaningful historic places and spaces that add value to our lives and offer comfort and stability during these challenging times. Now more than ever, it is important to stay connected to our communities.
Today’s Spotlight: Andrea MacDonald
The final entry in PA SHPO’s #FavoritePAPlaces campaign is Andrea MacDonald, Director of the PA SHPO, talking about why Hegins Park in Hegins Township, Schuylkill County is one of her favorite Pennsylvania places.
Hegins Park
Hegins Park (Key #211623) was established in 1865 and is managed by the Hegins Park Association, which was organized in 1896. Most of the park’s buildings date to the 1930s and since then, the Association has added numerous recreational amenities, stages, and parking to accommodate the many fundraising and community events held there each year. You can learn more about it by checking out Hegins Park’s CRGIS record here.
